General description of Velda VT Algenweg
Thread algae are caused by the fact that aquatic plants only insufficiently break down the existing nutrients in the water. In the case of thread algae, there is always talk of a high pH and a low KH value. For the removal of annoying thread algae, Velda VT has developed Algenweg.
Mode of action:
Correctly dosed, Velda VT Algenweg is safe for plants and fish and the microfauna is almost untouched.
Thread and / or slime algae can develop explosively in the pond under certain conditions, with the water becoming increasingly clear or less clear. What is striking, however, is that the pH value is high (8.5 - 9.5) and the carbonate hardness (KH value) is low. Furthermore, the growth of oxygen plants leaves a lot to be desired and the number of aquatic plants is usually too small in relation to the size of the pond. Solving the algae problem requires a number of measures:
Bring in pond substrate, if not already available. At least 80% of the floor must be covered. Mix a dose of Bacterial through the pond substrate.
Make sure that the total hardness of the water (GH value) is at least 8 ° DH (possibly increase with GH Plus or Mineral Plus).
Put more aquatic plants. Good varieties at this stage are: floating plants and water lilies.
The measures mentioned here bring about a biological decrease in the growth of thread algae and ultimately cancel it out completely. They increase the bacterial degradation capacity and optimize the growth of the aquatic plants (hardness at least 8 ° DH), while the use of more aquatic plants reduces the supply of nutrients in the water. In addition to these measures, it is advisable to continuously remove the thread algae by hand.
If, after a while, the algae growth visibly decreases, oxygen plants can be planted.
The whole process will take a few months.
