Fluorite Black Sand ™ is a special clay, porous form of flakes , excellent as a substrate for the natural planted aquarium . This fund can also be used as a normal substrate in any freshwater aquarium . Fluorite Black Sand ™ can be mixed with other funds, but is most effective when used alone. Additions are not necessary as in the case of laterite or other competing products . Fluorite Black ™ must never be replaced , it remains effective for the entire life of the aquarium , it is not chemically treated and will not alter the pH of the water .
Although pre- washed , it is preferable to rinse it before using it to remove residue . An initial opalescence is normal and will disappear rapidly ( 2-12 hours). To decrease the opalescence use Clarity ™ in combination with a mechanical filter ( glass wool ) .
