Test for the measurement of 'acidity in seawater
Kit consists of:
1 bottle of 10 mL of pH reagent
The danger of sudden changes
The right pH is essential for the marine aquarium healthy life; usually it is between 8.1 and 8.3. Too sharp fluctuations in pH are stressful for many organisms, causing behavioral changes and make them more susceptible to diseases.
The pH represents the concentration of hydrogen ions present in the water. The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, the central value of 7 represents neutrality, below 7 the water is defined acidic, above it is basic or alkaline.
How do the test
1. Rinse the tube several times with the water to be tested.
2. Fill the tube with 5 mL of water to be tested.
3. Add 5 drops of reagent pH and shake the tube for a few seconds.
4. Determine the pH value by comparing the color of the liquid contained in the test tube with that of the color scale provided.
