Test for the measurement of phosphate in fresh and salt water
Features:
Kit consists of:
1 graduated tube
1 vial of 10 ml of PO4-1 reagent
1 vial of 10 ml of PO4-2 reagent
1 blue container of powder for phosphate analysis
1 teaspoon for powder feeder
1 colorimetric scale
1 leaflet
The danger Phosphates
A high concentration of phosphate promotes the growth of algae. In freshwater aquariums the Phosphates should not exceed the concentration of 0.5 mg / L. In marine aquariums the concentration of phosphates should remain below 0.1 mg / L.
What are
Phosphates are primarily derived from food not consumed, by the decomposition of organic waste (plants, fish, manure) and can also be found in tap water.
Procedure
1. Rinse the tube several times with the water to be tested.
2. Fill the tube with 10 mL of water to be analyzed.
3. Add 5 drops of PO4 reagent 1 and shake the tube.
4. Add 5 drops of PO4 reagent 2 and shake the tube.
5. Add 2 scoops of powder blue container and shake well.
6. Wait approximately 10 minutes, and then determine the amount of phosphates by comparing the color of the liquid contained in the test tube with that of the color scale provided. |
