Product: Dennerle 3066 – CO2 Topper – compact CO2 diffuser – Profi-Line
Efficient, compact CO2 diffuser for aquariums of up to 120 litres, with bubble counter and waste gas vent.
If used properly and treated with due core, you will be able to reliably and consistently supply your aquarium with CO2 - the most important fertilizer for aquarium plants.
How the CO2 Topper works:
The CO2 supplied by the CO2 fertilizer system gathers in the Topper's collector. It is here that a CO2 bubble will gradually start to form. Thanks to the large contact surface the CO2 quickly and effectively dissolves in the aquarium water. The amount of CO2 supplied can be measured by the number of bubbles leaving the integrated bubble counter hose per minute.
Whilst CO2 diffuses into the water, other naturally-occurring gases penetrate into the gas bubble beneath the collector. These so-called waste gases are considerably lighter than the relatively heavy CO2 and therefore gather at the top of the collector. Here they are automatically drown off in regular intervals using the specially developed waste gas vent.
The heavy CO2 on the other hand collects at the bottom in the gas buffer at the interface to the water. Thanks to the fully-developed design of the Topper, the valuable CO2 is used optimally. The CO2 Topper con be used in combination with all customary CO2 diffusors.
What is what?:
1) Hose connector for all 4/6 mm hoses
2) Bubble counter tube
3) Waste gas vent
4) Longlife suction cups
How to install the CO2 Topper correctly:
1. Rinse the CO2 Topper with warm top water. Do not use detergent!
2. Plug the CO2 supply hose onto the hose connector.
3. In the aquarium, select a spot with good but not too strong water circulation. The spot should not be too bright to prevent possible algae growth.
4. Using the two suction cups, attach the CO2 Topper horizontally with the opening facing downwards, at least 5 cm below the surface of the water.
Ensure that the waste gas vent is not obstructed by leaves, sludge, algae or such like. 5. Set the required amount of CO2 on the needle valve of the pressure reducer. For this purpose please also consult the instructions for use provided with the other components of your 2 fertilization system.
Dennerle Profi Tip:
Always protect your valuable pressure reducer against corrosion caused by intake of water! To do so, use only check valves designed for use in combination with 2, e.g. the Dennerle 2 Special Check Valve. Normal air check valves may become brittle and leaky through contact with 2 within only a short space of time. Often this occurs unnoticed.
The right amount of CO2:
For magnificent plant growth, Dennerle recommend a CO2 content in the aquarium of between 15 and 30 mg/l, whilst between 20 and 25 mg/l is ideal. The number of bubbles per minute required to achieve this CO2 content depends on a number of factors (types of plants used, water current, surface area/volume ratio, etc). This is why it is always necessary to determine the CO2 amounts for each aquarium individually.
Rule of thumb for the basic setting: start with approx. 10 bubbles per minute per 100 l of aquarium water. i.e. for a 200 l aquarium. for example, use 2 x 10 = 20 bubbles per minute.
Check the CO2 supply and the CO2 levels in the aquarium water regularly and adjust the CO2 supply if necessary.
Warning: If necessary only ever increase the CO2 level gradually over the course of several days.
Please note: The more vigorously the surface of the water is set in motion (e.g. by filters, additional aeration), the more CO2 will be expelled from the aquarium again
Cleaning the CO2 Topper:
With worm water and a soft sponge. Do not use any detergents.
