Test for the measurement of 'acidity in fresh water
Features:
Kit consists of:
1 Tube graduated
1 bottle of 10 mL of pH reagent
1 colorimetric scale
leaflet.
The danger of sudden changes
The right pH value is critical to the health of fish and plants; usually it is between 6.2 and 8.2.
Abrupt fluctuations in pH are due to both behavioral alterations in both physical load of the fish; such fluctuations are often caused by too low values of KH (carbonate hardness). It should also be remembered that the pH is related to the toxicity Ammonia / Ammonium.
What
The pH represents the concentration of hydrogen ions present in the water. The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, the central value of 7 represents neutrality, below 7 the water is defined acidic, above it is basic or alkaline.
How do the test
1. Rinse the tube several times with the water to be tested.
2. Fill the tube with 5 mL of water to be tested.
3. Add 5 drops of reagent pH and shake the tube for a few seconds.
4. Determine the pH value by comparing the color of the liquid contained in the test tube with that of the color scale provided. |
